Old San Juan

Old San Juan is one of those places that feels like it was made to be photographed. Every street turns into a new backdrop. The pastel buildings, worn cobblestone, and intricate balconies create layers of texture and color that feel both timeless and vibrant at the same time.

David and I spent hours just walking with no real plan, turning down random streets, stopping whenever something caught our eye, and taking it all in. It is the kind of place where you naturally slow down. We also enjoyed way too many piña coladas along the way, which only made the wandering feel even more carefree.

From a photography perspective, it is incredibly inspiring. The light reflects beautifully off the colorful buildings, and there are endless little corners that feel intimate and cinematic. It would be such an unreal location for engagement sessions or wedding portraits. The mix of historic architecture and coastal energy gives it a romantic edge that feels elevated but still full of life.

It is easy to imagine a couple walking through those streets in wedding attire, completely in their own world, with the city as this stunning, textured backdrop. Old San Juan is not just beautiful, it is the kind of place that invites storytelling through images.

Levant

Dinner at Levant felt like one of those nights you wish you could bottle up and keep. The atmosphere alone is reason enough to go. It has that effortless, intimate energy that feels elevated without trying too hard.

David and I went in not knowing exactly what to expect and ended up completely obsessed. Everything felt thoughtful, from the way the space was designed to how each dish was presented. The food was incredible, layered with flavor in a way that felt creative but still grounded and approachable. And of course, the cocktails did not disappoint.

What I loved most was how the entire experience felt. It was relaxed but still special, the kind of place where you can linger for hours and not feel rushed. It had that perfect balance of being a destination restaurant while still feeling personal.

It is also one of those spots that translates beautifully visually. The lighting, the textures, the details all come together in a way that feels cinematic. You feel like you’re seated in the middle of a clam shell. It would be such a stunning location for a welcome dinner or even an intimate celebration tied to a wedding weekend.

Casa Blanca

Casa Blanca Museum quietly stops you in your tracks. Tucked into Old San Juan, it feels like stepping into a different era. The whitewashed walls, the archways, and the layered gardens create this soft, romantic atmosphere that is almost cinematic.

Walking through it, every corner feels intentional. There are shaded pathways, perfectly framed doorways, and little pockets of light that make it incredibly inspiring from a photography standpoint. It has a calmness to it that contrasts beautifully with the energy of the city just outside.

For engagement sessions or wedding portraits, it is honestly a dream location. The neutral tones of the architecture paired with the greenery allow a couple to really stand out while still feeling completely connected to the space. It feels elevated, timeless, and effortlessly romantic.

It is easy to picture a couple wandering through the gardens, stealing quiet moments under the arches, or framed against the historic walls. It has that rare quality of feeling both intimate and grand at the same time, which is exactly what makes a location unforgettable in photos.

Finca Victoria

There are places that feel like a stay, and then there are places that feel like an experience- and Finca Victoria is entirely the latter.

Tucked into the lush hills of Vieques, sleeping in one of their treehouses felt like being suspended in the jungle in the best possible way. The space was effortlessly beautiful—minimal, airy, and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape. You wake up to the sound of nature, soft light filtering through the trees, and it feels worlds away from anything busy or expected.

Mornings there are slow and intentional. Breakfast was one of those simple-but-perfect moments- fresh, vibrant, and thoughtfully prepared in a way that feels nourishing without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place where you actually sit, linger, and enjoy it.

I also booked a massage while we were there, and it was exactly what you want in a setting like this-relaxing, grounding, and completely in sync with the calm energy of the property. Everything about it felt elevated but never overdone.

Finca Victoria has this quiet luxury to it- nothing loud, nothing forced. Just beautifully designed spaces, incredible attention to detail, and an atmosphere that lets you fully exhale.

Hix Island House

David and I stayed at Hix Island House, and it completely lived up to everything I had hoped for. It is one of those places where the design is the experience. The architecture is striking in the most understated way, with raw concrete, open air spaces, and views that pull your attention straight out to the landscape.

There is no excess here, which is exactly what makes it feel so luxurious. Everything is intentional. The rooms feel expansive and calm, with natural light pouring in and the line between indoors and outdoors almost disappearing. It creates this quiet, grounded energy that makes you slow down without even realizing it.

We spent a lot of time just existing there, taking in the views, watching the light change throughout the day, and enjoying how peaceful it felt. It is not the kind of place that tries to entertain you. It gives you space, and that is what makes it so special.

From a visual perspective, it is incredibly inspiring. The clean lines, neutral tones, and surrounding nature make it feel editorial without trying. It would be such a beautiful setting for getting ready photos or even a full wedding weekend for a couple who leans more minimal and design focused.

Vieques Island

Vieques has a way of slowing everything down in the best possible way. It feels untouched, a little rugged, and completely unbothered by the pace of the mainland. There is a quiet beauty to it that does not try to impress you, which somehow makes it even more impressive.

The beaches are some of the most beautiful I have seen, with soft sand, clear water, and stretches that feel almost empty. You will see wild horses wandering freely, adding to that surreal, unpolished charm that makes the island feel so unique. It is not overly curated or built up, and that is exactly the appeal.

One of the most unforgettable experiences is Mosquito Bay, known for its bioluminescent water. Being out there at night, watching the water light up with movement, feels almost unreal and impossible to fully capture.

From a photography standpoint, Vieques is incredibly inspiring. The textures, the natural light, the mix of rugged coastline and soft tropical tones all create a setting that feels both editorial and organic. It would be an unreal place for a destination wedding or an intimate engagement session. The island gives you space to create something that feels different, something that is less about production and more about atmosphere and emotion.

Marmalade

We had the best dinner of our lives at Marmalade, and that is not something I say lightly.

From the moment we walked in, everything felt intentional. The lighting, the energy, the pacing of the evening all created this experience that felt immersive and elevated without ever feeling stiff. It was the kind of dinner where you completely lose track of time.

Every course felt like its own moment. The flavors were layered and unexpected in the best way, and each dish felt just as beautiful as it was delicious. You could tell there was so much thought behind every detail, from presentation to how everything flowed together throughout the meal.

David and I kept looking at each other after every course like, how does it keep getting better? It was one of those rare experiences where the food, the atmosphere, and the company all align perfectly.

It is the kind of place you build a night around, and honestly, a place I would come back to Puerto Rico for again and again.
