Next up on the vendor spotlights is Lianna Colestock of Lianna Colestock Beauty! She’s beautiful, has dimples I would die to have, and has the cutest stance when she’s working on someone. I’ve gotten to work with her on multiple occasions and am always impressed with and thankful for her eye for detail! It’s good makeup artist that cuts down a photographer post processing time…so I thank you for that, Lianna!
Why did you start your business?
I started my business because I LOVE doing women’s makeup- I love everything about it. Talking to them while they are getting their makeup done, finding out about their lives, hopes, dreams, or just something funny that happened the other day. I love that “girl talk” that happens when women are together! I love showing a woman her own beauty through makeup. Pointing out a feature she overlooks on herself every day, that I notice and find beautiful when I first glance at her. When I started doing makeup for weddings and special events I found my true calling. I get to enhance a woman’s natural beauty on one of the most important days of her life. It is such a happy day- I love to be a part of the excitement and make everyone feel confident and beautiful. Wedding/Event makeup can be a challenge because it needs to look flawless in person, stunning in photographs, and last all night long. Oh yeah, AND you need to be able to do it quickly, and on schedule in a room full of women on a day that has been planned for months. I love a challenge. I LOVE WEDDINGS!
Do you work mostly in the Twin Cities? Is there anywhere else where you provide your services?
I work in the Twin Cities. I will travel outside of the Twin Cities occasionally, but there are soooo many amazing wedding venues in this area, you usually don’t need to travel very far!
What wedding trend do you wish would die?
I can’t think of one specific trend I wish would die……maybe if Pinterest could take a backseat. I’ve been to a few weddings where I could point out 10-20 things that I saw on Pinterest. Talk about Pinterest overload!!!! I love me some Pinterest, but too much of a good thing is still too much.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
My favorite part of the wedding day is when the bride is all ready and she puts her dress on. If I am still there doing makeup for the wedding party and I see it go on, I can’t help but tear up. I’m a huge, weepy, sappy nerd. It gets me every time:-)
When do you think is the ideal time/season/place to get married?
I got married in December, so I am partial to winter weddings. There are lights up all around the Twin Cities, if it snows it looks beautiful, and you don’t have to worry about being hot and sweaty. I guess I’m a true Minnesota girl:-) Plus you can honeymoon or vacation on your anniversary every year somewhere warm!
Beyonce’ or Kim Kardashian?
Beyonce or Kim?!?! How can I choose?! Beyonce is actually talented, and one classy lady……but what makeup artist wouldn’t want to get their hands on Kim K with all her contouring, and huge lips, and big old eyelashes. I just want to play with her face! Maybe Beyonce and I could be besties, and I can do Kim K’s makeup, and eavesdrop on her crazy family. YESSSSS.
